David Collins was a student that was initially very taken with The Wave, believing that it could help save the school's ailing football team. He supports the wave so much that he constantly lectures Laurie Sanders,  his girlfriend about how paranoid she is. But it got to the point where he started a physical fight with her, and then realized that maybe the wave wasn't as good as it seemed.
